"... wish it were Sunday ... 'cause that's my fun day... my I-don't-have-to-run day..."
Yes, Sundays make me feel like singing, too. There's nothing quite like days like today - Waking up in an apartment flooded with sunlight, not having anything that I have to do, the smell of coffee brewing and pancakes cooking, the Sunday paper in all its thick glory delivered right to my doorstep.
After reading the paper and eating breakfast this morning, Dave and I went for a long walk through our neighborhood - One of our favorite things to do these days is walk up and down the charming streets, scope out the houses and daydream about the house we hope we can buy around here in next couple of years. We always marvel at how unique and beautiful they all are - no two are the same. Out in the 'burbs, most of the new houses are gigantic and cold and they all look exactly the same - why is this? I want to live in a place with some character!
Mom came to visit later this afternoon and we went for a walk, too. It was nearly fifty degrees and so sunny today, and the lake was the bluest I've seen in months and months. It's strange how spring comes every year at this time, and yet it seems like a completely new and somewhat astonishing event every time. You can't help but think, "Oh yeah, this is what it's like every day in the summer." Somehow we forget, and when we're reintroduced, it's just spectacular. I don't think I've ever looked forward to spring and summer the way I am this year.
Here are a few pics from today... The first is a banana pancake. A heart just appeared on one of them as we were cooking this morning - coincidence, maybe - but we took it as a good sign. The others are from my walk with mom this afternoon, at Atwater Park.
It's been quite some time since I've actually played at a playground. This is seriously one of the reasons that I can't wait to have kids - I will have a perfectly logical excuse to play all the time, and to re-experience all those things that were so great about childhood the first time around.
Perhaps I will make it one of my goals this summer to find some of the best playgrounds in Milwaukee. This one was pretty fun, and there's a cool-looking one at an elementary school near us that I've been itching to try out, too. We'll see how many I can visit in the next few months ...
Anyway ... Hope you've all had a lovely Sunday.
Oh my God! I was seriously just writing about banana pancakes yesterday. I was doing a writing exercise about where I want to be in five years, but I haven't finished it yet. Banana pancakes are my favorite.
And I love Sunday, too. It's my favorite day for the very reasons you mentioned. I do not, however, love the Mondays that follow.

I love the heart in your pancake. You should sell it on E-bay. Don't people sell weird crap like that on E-bay all the time?
Anyways, glad that you had a good Sunday - I, too, love Sundays. It's the best day of the week!
Have a good Manic Monday.

haha We thought about that - kind of like the Virgin Mary piece of toast! But alas, I ate it.
