Happy New Year!
Wanted to give a shout-out to Swig since we all had such a great time there last night for New Year's Eve.
Our group of 13 arrived just a little after 10pm, and after checking our coats, we were led into the dimly lit dining room where we had an entire little sunken area near the bar to ourselves. The tall tables were lit with candles and had silver hats and noise makers ready for us. (I gotta say, I was hoping there'd be hats and noise makers.)
The place was very chill and classy, and it's pretty small, too, so it felt very intimate. Our waitress, Julia, took really good care of us all night, with a smile on her face the entire time. We ordered drink after drink, and all the food we wanted. It's all small-plate dining at Swig, so we ordered a lot and got to try just about everything.
We had crab cakes, cheese ravioli, shrimp, spinach gnocci, baked brie, beef sirloin skewers, chicken skewers, seared tuna, spring rolls, black bean cakes, and scallops. I might even be forgetting a couple. The food was delicious, my favorites being the brie, the sirloin skewers, and the crab cakes. I should have thought to take some pictures of the food, but I was too busy eating it.
Of course I ate too much (hey, the diet starts tomorrow - had to go out with a bang) and the only downfall to that was that I couldn't drink very much. But that's ok! I had a couple nice martinis, and some champagne, and that was good enough for me.
I did manage to take a few pictures of the desserts we ordered, including the mile-high (seriously) carrot cake, and the chocolate fondue. Mmmmmm!
(Thanks Julia!)
The group we were with was really fun and Swig was a great place to spend a laid-back (and indulgent!) New Year's Eve.
Hope you all had a good one, too!
