The Milwaukee River Challenge is this weekend. The races, which begin at 11 a.m., will feature rowing teams from all over the country competing on the 2.2 mile course that goes through downtown Milwaukee. Check out the official site for the race route so you can pick a good spot.
I've never been to this event before, but I've heard it's a very cool sight to see. I'll be heading down there tomorrow and probably watching from Pere Marquette Park.
Why does it seem I'm always out of town when this happens? Hmm... maybe because I am always out of town when it happens. Haha... umm.. so yeah, cool anyway! I'll be tellin my friends! I'll be in Chi for the weekend for a Sufjan Stevens show... have fun!

The river that snakes through town - the Thames, go figure - hosts similar races every year. It's lovely to watch, and makes me wish I could head out on the water every morning. It seems so cathartic.
It's definitely an interesing counterpoint to skydiving. I so can't wait to hear about both adventures.
BTW, I'm randomly dropping in from Michele's and saying hi to everyone. It's my way of making folks smile on a quiet weekend.
I hope you have a great Saturday!

It is too bad that you weren't able to make it to the River Challenge Erin, but I can understand wanting to spend time with your mom. I am the same way.
What a perfect opportunity to spend the day outside though. The weather couldn't have been better and the crowd was energetic and fun. My boyfriend and I sat in our traditional spot overlooking the river and were the first to run to the edge when the racers came into view. I still cant get over the fact that this happens in our own city. It looked more like something you could only see in the movies. Not to mention the crowed it brings into the city. We sat next to a woman and her husband who were there to see their son race. They were from California and had never been to Wisconsin. We talked a bit and found out that they had been here for a week now and planned another trip out next summer. It was a fun day.
