Summer has come and gone.
School is back in session and one day very soon we're going to wake up in the dark and it's going to be cold. Summer passes faster and faster every year, doesn't it?
I find myself focusing on all that I didn't manage to do in the past few months that I had wanted to - the lakes I didn't swim in, the parks I didn't visit, the picnics I didn't pack, the shows I didn't see.
But looking over this blog, I realize that I've had a pretty action-packed summer, and it's really been quite wonderful.
The calendar says that there are still a few weeks of summer left, so there's still time for those things I wish I'd done. In the coming weeks, I'm hoping to go fishing on Lake Michigan, take a ride on the Eidelweiss cruise ship, and maybe, just maybe, I'll finally jump out of a plane like I've been meaning to.
Still, the bookend that is Labor Day has come and gone, and it's made me want to reflect a bit on my summer. So without further ado, these are my favorite things I've done this summer:
1. Sailing on Lake Michigan. Amazing, romantic, so much fun.
2. Kayaking down the Oconomowoc River. The closest I've been with nature in a long time. Really great.
3. Golfing for the first time in my life, and seeing Brett Favre play golf, too.
4. Those experiences that started out tame and became complete laugh riots (see: my mini golf fiasco and the Bastille Days obnoxiousness.)
5. And finally, my 15 minutes of fame. The controversy that was sparked by the article in USA Today, the hits that came after it, and being on the radio, too.
And along with the fun times, I graduated, I got engaged, and I moved into a new apartment. It's been quite a whirlwind!
How was your summer? I hope it's been full of excitement and good times.
I've really been enjoying keeping this site. It's sad that summer is over, but I'm looking forward to taking the blog into the fall and winter months. You'll see that Milwaukee isn't just great during the quick months of summer - it's great year-round!
Erin...My friend lives in East Troy, and she sees TONS of skydivers all weekend long. Maybe that would be some place to check out?? I'll try to locate the name/place.

Love your summer memories, particularly the sailing. There is nothing better in the world, than flowing across the water with the wind.

Hi Erin - thanks for visiting my blog earlier. I am enjoying yours. I've never been to Milwaukee but seeing your pics makes me want to go! Congrats on your engagement by the way! Talk about a great summer memory.
