It happens every year. It never changes, and it never gets any easier.
In May, the glorious months of summer stretch long and wide before us and the possible ways to spend those days seem endless.
Then one day, we wake up and it's Labor Day, and we haven't done even half of the things we'd hoped to do.
It's almost a week into August already, meaning that our brief and beautiful summer will soon be over. Before we know it, we will once again be confined to our homes, wishing for the days when we could get outside and play.
Are you making the most of your summer days? What is one thing that you've been meaning to do but just haven't had time for?
My list of things I still want to do this summer is a long one. Come September, we'll see how many I've actually been able to squeeze in...
-Fishing
-Skydiving
-Golfing with my dad
-Mitchell Park Domes
-the Milwaukee County Zoo
-Great America (Gurnee, IL)
-Noah's Ark (Wisconsin Dells)
-River Flicks
-Jazz in the Park (one more time)
-a farmer's market
-Eidelweiss cruise ship
-hiking
-flying a kite on the lakefront
-a picnic on the beach
-mountain biking on local trails
-jet skiing
I'm sure I'm forgetting some things, but that's a start. Something tells me I won't be able to fit that much activity into a month, or even two months.
I'm going to do my best!
I've wanted to the Eidelweiss Cruise for a while now so if you need a cruising buddy..let me know! I'm always up for it!

I've been meaning to get to the Domes and other childhood stuff for a couple years now, but it's hard to convince people to do stuff like that. It's one thing to get people in their 20-30s to go to the art museum, but convincing them to hit the public museum or domes or zoo is like pulling wisdom teeth (also difficult, I hear).
I did make it to the public museum last year, though. While they don't have rubber candy cherries in the old world milwaukee store anymore (they did in when I was last there in '83), the place is still pretty cool. The butterfly thing is interesting too, and I *hate* bugs, so that's saying something.

I love the Milwaukee Public Museum! My boyfriend and I go about once a year. To be honest, I think it is great for kids, but I enjoy it much more as an adult. There is so much to read and learn about. As an adult, I take my time going through the various sections. I have learned quite a bit about Wisconsin.
I also LOVE the butterflies! Where else can you see something so beautiful?
I cant wait to hear about your experiences on the Eidelweiss! That just takes you up and down the shore, right? I have always wanted to do that.

the eidelweiss takes you down the milwaukee river to the inside of the breakwater and back. very cool time.
another thing you should try to do before the summer is over is the booze cruise where you go on a boat tour down the milwaukee river, stopping at Lakefront Brewery, Rock Bottom Brewery and the Milwaukee Ale House.
